Mr. Newton Sindo (Chairman)
Newton Sindo is a Country Director for Future Vision Ministries (Canada), a Christian International non governmental organization (NGO) with its corporate office in Cambridge, Canada. Future Vision Ministries renders services in Early Childhood Developments (ECD) in Malawi. The organization provides pre-school to children aged 2-8 years, scholarships to high school and university students, and clean water by drilling boreholes. In his position as CD he is responsible for coordinating all activities with support staff.
Mr. Sindo joined FVM in January 2009. Prior to FVM he worked for Electricity Supply Commission of Malawi (ESCOM) from 2005 to 2007.
Mr. Sindo has two Diplomas in Rural & Community Development and another one obtained from Amity University (India) majoring in Business Management. He is currently studying for a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Management.
Newton and his wife, Idah have 3 children and live in Zomba where Idah is a grade school teacher.
Chrispine Sibande
Chrispine Gwalawala Sibande is human rights lawyer with ten years’ experience at the bar. He holds Masters in Human Rights(LLM) obtained from University of Free State, South Africa in 2008 and Bachelor of Laws(Hons) obtained from University of Malawi in 2005 and has has worked with vulnerable and marginalized groups. His interest is in advocacy, law reform and public interest litigation. He has made several presentations at domestic and international level on issues of law and human rights. He is a board member of several non-governmental
organizations and institutions working on education, community empowerment, health and development.
Professor Address Malata
Professor Address Malata is the first Vice-Chancellor of the Malawi University of Science and Technology, and the first female to hold such a high position in Malawi. She is also Vice President of International Confederation of Midwives.
Professor Malata joined MUST, initially as Deputy Vice Chancellor in early 2016 and was later appointed to the new post in mid 2016. Address Malata is a Nurse and Midwifery leader in education, practice and research who comes from a developing country, Malawi and also a leader in Africa. She is an experienced Nurse/Midwife and has worked for University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN) since 1989, and left as its College President. As a student at KCN, she excelled in her studies and was one of the two students who passed Diploma in Nursing (1986). Address got her Diploma from KCN, A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1988) at KCN. She then went to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing in Australia at Edith Cowan University and got her MSN and then PhD. in Nursing. Her research work developed for the first time, a Childbirth Education Program for Malawian women.
Address enjoys teaching undergrads and graduate classes and she greatly assists Ministry of Health in Malawi development and review of policies and guidelines for many years, she also does consultations in Malawi and outside the country. In her leadership position as college president she has spearheaded 6 Masters Degrees and a PhD programs in as little as four years. Address has published in in International Journals and presented papers at several national and international fora.
KCN is a designated World Health Organization (WHO) center and Professor Malata is the its Director. She is also been President of Association of Malawian Midwives (AMAMI) and of the Africa Honor Society of Nursing (Tau Lambda at Large of Sigma Theta Tau International) and managed to secure funding and grown the membership to 5,000.
